Charles Canfield

Charles Canfield was a business partner of the oil tycoon Edward Doheny, who at the height of his wealth was one of the richest men in America, and who was a close friend of Frank Seaver, the husband of Blanche Seaver.1 Canfield died in 1913.

In 1972, the Canfield Foundation, named in his honor, announced a grant of one million dollars to be used for scholarships at Pepperdine University. The Foundation was established by Canfield before his death, and much of the money was earmarked for the education of young people.2
